Welcoming our new Executive Director!
The Board of Governors of the FNHIC is pleased to announce that Joseph Wabegijig has joined the team as our new Executive Director. Joseph is Odawa, Makwa (Bear) Clan from the Unceded Wikwemikong Territory on Manitoulin Island in Ontario. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge which will prove invaluable as we work toward delivering our mandate of creating a BC First Nations-led housing & infrastructure Authority.
Joseph is a civil engineering professional that has worked at the community and international levels to develop and implement improved systems of housing and infrastructure. He continues to play a leadership role with a number of Organisations and Universities in the design and development of sustainable infrastructure, focusing on community partnerships in infrastructure and housing. As a former Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Indigenous Services Canada, he also has been able to support the implementation of the Governments mandate on First Nations housing and infrastructure, experience which will serve the FNHIC well as we progress toward developing leading change for First Nations Housing and Infrastructure in B.C.
We ask you to join with us in congratulating him on his appointment and we know that he'll be reaching out to meet with many of the First Nations as soon as possible. Please stay safe and stay well during these difficult times.
Chief Mark Point,
Chair of the Board of Directors
